Running Shoes rubbing heal raw?

I just bought the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 8 model and I’m not sure if the shoe is to big for my foot. It’s a size 7. My foot measures a size 6 but I have always worn 6.5 to size 7 running shoe. The problem is the back of my heal is being rubbed raw and its only on my right foot. It started in my last pair of running shoes(Nike) so thought I needed a new pair but same problem. So what should I do? Return and get a smaller size or wear extra socks? And is there anything I can do to prevent this in the future? Thanks.

Since it is only the right foot, and it happened in another pair of shoes, have both feet measured.
If they are the same size, normally you wear 1/2 size larger running shoes than street shoes.
Buy mole skin and stick it in the heel of the right shoe.
It will cushion the foot and make the shoe slightly smaller to keep your heel from rubbing.
Don’t wear extra socks.
