Home Wiring: how are Black & White wire connected to Red & Yellow?

I purchased a light fixture and the wiring on it is black and white, and it says to connect the black wire to the black and the white one to the white to where the light will go, however, instead of it being black and white, the wires are red and yellow. Which colours should I match?

Black/Red and White/Yellow

or

Black/Yellow and Red/White.

you need to get a multimeter and check to see if the red is the hot or the yellow is the hot. just touch one end of the wire with one leg of the multimeter and the other leg of the multimeter to the ground.

but if i was just going to guess, id go black to red and white to yellow
