Converse All-Stars – buy them cheap
The year was 1908… Malden MA, Marquis Mills Converse established a rubber shoe company. This company later came to be known as the Converse All Stars. It is presumed that more than 550 million pairs of All Star trainers have been brought to the forefront since the beginning.
In the preliminary days Converse All-stars also used to make tires; however, the basketball shoe instantaneously turned out to be the chief focus of the business. In the year 1917, the first Converse All Star sneaker was introduced.
In the year of 1930 Chuck Taylor joined hands with the All star ankle patch. That was not bad. In fact, they turned to be a world famous phenomenon almost overnight.
In the year 1923, the company customized basket ball shoes for the New York Ben’s, i.e. the first African American basketball team, and redefined the game into rapid paced game of recent time. In the year 1939, the first NCAA championship game was scheduled between two teams interested to go for the Converse All Stars. When the war was at the peak, the company decided to design a flying boot that was to be worn by the flying division of the army and was exclusively supplied for basic training.
Do you remember the year 1984, when the basketball team of the American men won the sport? Well, at this hour they were wearing Converse shoes. Till this time, the converse shoes were practically available in only two colors namely black and white but after a couple of years seven more colors were introduced.
In the year of 2003, a controversy arose and it came to be known that the company was taken over by Nike for $305 million. This led to a feeling of dissatisfaction amongst different Converse fans. Including me.
It is true that there was not a great difference noticed in the designs but some did feel that the quality had deteriorated to a considerable extent. Converse was the first to launch apparel in collaboration with Dwayne Wade in the year 2005. The company celebrated its 100th anniversary with the campaign “Welcome to Converse Century” in the year 2008. The company has experienced both ups and downs in its career and finally reached a position that all companies aim for. Wishing them all the best for the days to come!
