Is an orange with grey/green/blue tinted pith safe to eat?

I peeled a couple of organic oranges and found that some of the pith inside had a strange grey/green/blue tinge. It’s a bit like the color of mold, but how could there be mold inside when the orange peels appeared to be intact? What could be causing this and are the oranges safe to eat?

No it most certainly is not safe to eat. You’ve got some fungus or other harmful microorganism growing in that orange. Throw it away!
