Brown bags of Primark; why do they only have their Oxford Street (London) branch added to their name?
…but shop in the same store elsewhere in the UK, the bag’ll just read ‘Primark’? Are they playing the tiresome ‘class-orientated’ silly game of ‘we’ve-even-got-a-store-here-too’?
Nice one, Han! Went to see sister over the weekend, who’s a teacher in London – and along with better stores on said street, there are also cheap & nasty tourist dens also…but that’s always been the case. I am told most Londoners hardly traipse down Oxford Street anyhow.
I have no idea, but about the brown paper bags…the reason for that is Primark’s parent company is Pennys in Ireland, and in Ireland, the government put a levy of 22c per plastic bag in an effort to cut the amount of plastic clogging up landfills, etc, due to their millennia (or whatever) to decompose. Worked in an instant, no more plastic bags in Ireland.Maybe the parent company just can’t be bothered to print any plastic bags anywhere now.
As for only a London address, knowing how cheap Pennys/Primark are they are probably saving on ink, or something stupid…or appealing to the snobbery element, if that’s possible with a Pennys/Primark bag. They might have ‘bags for life’ , which possibly would last longer than some of their clothes.
